FYI, Andrew, it's not a "new" technology, either. I don't have the reference handy, but a Japanese lab published work like this a year or so ago. IMO, it's the kind of nifty technology that makes my engineer's heart go pitty pat, but not something with a whole lot of practical applicability. For ultra-small devices, quantum structures seem much more promising (and easier to make!), and for three-dimensional devices I'd more interested in the work that's being done with flexible substrates.
