I was asked about a year ago why I wasn't investing in INTC. My answer then was they were facing the prospect of significant competition from AMD and Cyrix and some major computer manufacturers had plans to incorporate their competitors CPUs in their less expensive machines. In short, the future for Intel looked very cloudy. As far as I was concerned these developments were sufficient for me to avoid the company because I believe in buy and hold so long as the long-term growth story is intact. This was my perception last April, and it continues to be my perception.

By comparison, I bought TYC at around $5 in 1986. I never saw a reason to sell.
