Perhaps this announcement may be influencing NOVL. Was NOVELL weak in this area? Will this 3rd party product enhance the Novell product line in some way?

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 27, 1998--WebTrends
Corp., the leader in enterprise management for Internet and
Intranet servers, today announced that it has acquired the Asmodeus
Security Scanner from Asmodeus Inc.
The Asmodeus Security Scanner product has been named the
WebTrends Security Scanner and will continue to be distributed until
the availability of a full commercial product, which is currently
under development. Security expert Greg Hoglund, the founder of
Asmodeus Inc. and the original developer of the Asmodeus Security
Scanner, has joined WebTrends Corp.
"We now have the solution for the corporate webmaster and IS
administrator who have requested products to help them better secure
their Internet and Intranet servers, and since that is the market
that we currently sell to, it's a perfect fit into the WebTrends
product line," said Eli Shapira, CEO of WebTrends Corp. "The
Asmodeus Security Scanner is an excellent product and we are very
pleased to have Greg Hoglund join our team."
Designed to test the integrity of firewalls and web servers, the
Asmodeus Security Scanner received positive reviews by PC Magazine
and Network World when used to test the security of firewall
products. The Asmodeus Security Scanner was tested side-by-side with
products by Internet Security Systems (NASDAQ:ISSX), Network
Associates (NASDAQ:NETA), and Axent Technologies (NASDAQ:AXNT), as
well as others. "Its primary function is to scan IP ports on
multiple servers for available services and identify potential
weaknesses. The Asmodeus Security Scanner was easy to install on
Windows NT and took no time to learn...it also ran quickly,
whether we were checking a single IP address or a series of Class C
addresses." (Beating the Hackers, by Jim Kates, Network World, Oct.
27, 1997.)
The WebTrends Security Scanner can be downloaded from
webtrends.com.

Paul:

Thanks for the BAY update. I guess NOVL is a ripe target again for speculation. I can't complain with that, but still think the Dr. isn't going to cut any deals for a good while. It is nice to see NOVL get some attention though <s>.
