why is it that NXTL is adding more customers per quarter (and higher quality customers) than either T or FON (with the exception of the Christmas gift buying season)? And how can NXTL do that by targeting a small segment of the market?

Because Nextel is niche player that dominates a relatively small segment of the wireless market, namely eSMR.

NXTL lacks bandwidth to compete in the voice and data segment. Either T or FON can put NXTL out of the business in a hurry by offering a digital walkie-talkie option. Btw, MOT recently began offering iDEN (read: digital eSMR) for 900MHz.

NXTL is a powder keg of a stock, it can blow up any day.
