Second in Series of Harvard Product Introductions Broadens Popular Harvard(R)

Brand of Visual Communication Software Products

FAIRFIELD, N.J., June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Software Publishing Corporation Holdings, Inc., (the "Company" or "SPCH") (Nasdaq: SPCOD), the visual communications software company(TM), today announced the shipment of Harvard Draw 98, the second new product in 1998 in the renowned Harvard line of presentation graphics software products.

"The launch of Harvard Draw 98 is significant as it is the second of several products SPCH intends to bring to market in the coming months in revitalizing the Harvard brand, which the Company believes is among the premier visual communications software programs for the corporate, SOHO and consumer user," said Mark Leininger, the Company's President and Chief Operating Officer. "This release underscores the Company's commitment to the Harvard brand name and in providing easy-to-use visual communication products to the market."

About Harvard Draw 98

Unlike most digital drawing programs, which typically provide little user support and can take hours to learn, Harvard Draw 98 provides users with a number of wizard-driven functions to support freehand drawing with the program's dynamic toolset and rich color palette, as well as thirty-six categories of defined shapes and designs that can be modified with a node tool. In addition to numerous design wizards that allow users to add watermarks, gradients and fills to objects, group, ungroup and replicate images, and transform images -- even text -- with remarkable special effects, Harvard Draw 98 also contains customizable document templates, separated into 20 different categories, in which users can place their digital artwork. The result is an easy-to-use drawing program operating within a flexible desktop environment. To round out the program's comprehensive graphics capabilities, Harvard Draw 98 also permits interoperability with most scanning software programs through TWAIN-compliance, as well as photo gamma- and color-correction, and the application of sepia, mosaic, charcoal and negative edits to photos.

"A major frustration with many of the drawing products on the market today is that they are difficult to use, take numerous hours to learn, and often require that users purchase several applications to complete results not supported by a single program," said Bob Gordon, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for SPCH. "Harvard Draw 98's primary drawing features, coupled with its wizard-driven publishing capabilities and its built-in photo optimizing tools, provide users with essentially three products in one -- and within an environment that promotes speed, flexibility and ease of use."

Included with Harvard Draw 98 is the Harvard Gallery, providing the user with a compilation of 400 TrueType Fonts, 550 photos and 15,000 clipart metafiles to allow optimal versatility in creating digital art.

System Requirements and Compatibility

Harvard Draw 98 requires a 386DX or higher PC with 8 Mb of memory, a CD-ROM drive and Windows 95. Required hard disk space ranges from 20 Mb (minimal install) to over 100 Mb, depending on options installed. Graphics and screen layout are optimized for Super VGA (8OO x 6OO) or higher with at least 256 color display.

Harvard Draw 98 is compatible with other Windows applications using the Clipboard and OLE drag-and-drop, provides comprehensive text and graphics import facilities, and works with all Windows-supported printers in both black-and-white and color.

Pricing and Availability

Harvard Draw 98 is planned to ship June 15, 1998. The estimated street price is $29.95.
