Checking in from E3 - There was apparently no need for a press conference at E3 and Wave simply reserved the space in case the need presented itself. SMSC is a big enough announcement on its own, and if Wave adds National Semiconductor (likely at some point I hear) then the chip will be on 80% of the worlds new super I/O integrated circuit chips. Intel is also apparently in the picture as many have speculated but details are understandably not available.

I asked a Wave representative how the brand-name boxmakers would figure in the overall scheme of things and the intent is to include them as well. I agree with Pure Folder that the boxmakers are an integral and critical part of this whole process. I don't know if Wave would have to give up a greater percentage with revenue sharing or if OEMs like SMSC would have to split with the boxmakers. I guess we'll find out eventually.

Hoping for more news tomorrow. There were some smiling but silent folks at the booth when I asked.
