RE:"MXi and Cayanne based slot 1 solution"

I hate to belabor the point, but without an onboard L2 (or very large L1) the performance of either of these products may suffer. And if the information on this thread is accurate, neither product has the capability to add an external cache.

The Cayenne core in a socket 7 pinout might be a competitive product because of the L2. For the first time since the 486 days Cyrix would have both integer and FPU performance competitive with Intel.

Will Cyrix build a product with all of the pieces necessary to be profitable?

Steve,

I agree for the most part, but I have concerns about the delivery date, the clock speeds, and the yield. In the past, none of these have been good, and the product, especially the MXi, is becoming much more complicated. I have my fingers crossed. It will be quite miraculous if they can pull it off. But, if they can, the rewards will be huge.

Pravin.
