Fuchi,

You may be right, but I have no feel for how big the processor upgrade market is. Myself and everyone I know usually just let the whole system become obsolete and then upgrade the whole system, since either the bus has changed or the new cards that you want only work on the new bus.

"WASHINGTON - Intel said Thursday it is talking with the Federal Trade Commission about its business practices amid reports that the government plans to accuse the computer chipmaker of abusing its market power.

... Newborn said the FTC also is considering future action against Intel, possibly later this year, over the company's decision to integrate features that control a computer's ability to draw images on the screen. Currently, that's controlled by add-on graphics cards sold by other companies that work with Intel computer chips and circuit boards."
