Compaq? Sure, Dell could try to take market share from Compaq, but ........ If I were Dell and wanted to increase sales of workstations and servers, I would bypass CPQ and go after Sun's small enterprise market. Sun's prices leave more room for Dell to get big margins and Sun isn't supporting small buyers like Dell can. I suspect Dell might pull it off because of the support they would get from both Microsoft and Intel. Dell has been much more loyal to both Intel and Microsoft than Compaq. I wonder what that's worth?

Good answer. I agree with a majority of your post but a few
areas of contention exist. I will honor your request to not
debate you on this issue as you have proven yourself to
be more of a thinker and analyst than a shoot from the
hip doomsdayer.

I look forward to more substantive posts from you, Rudedog, Paul
M. and a few other rationalists who are somewhat negatively skewed towards Dell with good (but always flawed<gg>) arguments.

Happy Trading
