Jim, I haven't seen Dr. Koop on television in years. At the time he was preaching the anti-smoking gospel, I thought he should have been warning the populace about the twisting turns being taken by HMOs deliberately using smoke and second-hand smoke as a battering ram against their membership, but that's another can of worms. Other than his apparent blind spot with tobacco and how it was being politicized, I generally agreed with his statements and was sorry to see him go--just another one of the Bush Administration's many failings, I thought. Dr. Koop was a far more believable and reasoned spokesperson than anyone who has followed him in the capacity of Surgeon General. Holly
