Because it would probably be considered contempt of court - besides
the FTC can always seek punative sanctions - like the $1M a day it
went after MS with. Suppose MS had said, "we've got billions, we'll
pay the $1M per day and to hell with you . . . " do you think things
would have stopped there? Really? Fact is, no entity - not even the almighty Bill Gates - can set itself up as a greater power than the nation state - fought a civil war and killed a lot of people to
settle that point didn't we?
