Ashton Mining of Canada Inc. (ACA-T, $3.35) - Encouraging Exploration
Results - Speculative Buy - Rob Klassen

Ashton yesterday announced micro diamond analysis results on four of the 9
kimberlite pipes discovered during the winter 1998 reverse circulation
drilling program. Results are encouraging in that the newly identified
cluster of pipes located 30 km east of the K-14 complex appears to be
diamondiferous. This new cluster includes pipes k-10, k-11 and k-92.
Results from k-11, with 106 micro diamonds and 14 macro-diamonds (macro's
are classified as greater than 0.5 mm), are comparable to initial results
from pipe K-14 in 1997. Results for the three remaining pipes discovered in
1998 will be released in the next few weeks.

Processing of the 450 tonne bulk sample from K-14 will commence once the DMS
plant has been built on site meaning results will not be available for
several months. These bulk sample results will give a better indication of
the project's potential. Buffalo Hills is still an early stage project and
has had its share of encouraging and disappointing results. This last round
happens to be encouraging. Rob continues to rate Ashton as a SPECULATIVE
BUY as there is still a great deal of work to be done on the known pipes and
anomalies. Rob's target price is $5.00 per share.
