Is it proper to use so many parenthesis?

Actually, the question is more properly one for the Grammar & Spelling thread. [Insert big fat grin-grin here.] But here goes.

The use of parentheses (note the proper spelling of the plural) is a matter of taste and judgment, not of correctness or the lack of it. I practically never use parentheses in formal writing. In informal, conversational writing (as in e-mails) I use them a lot, perhaps even overuse and abuse them, along with italicization, boldfacing, and similar devices. It's a way of imitating natural speech patterns. But you're essentially right -- I should restrain myself a little more!
