Something doesn't set right in these statistics. I remember about 8 or 9 years ago, when the spectre of reunification first seemed to come crashing down upon Hong Kong, there was an outflow of wealth. It was presented as a major downturn in the news media of the day. I remember well the flow of Hong Kong money into local Calif real estate, the countless stories of property being bought over the phone, and a slack jobs market as professionals were leaving HK in droves seeking employment elsewhere. Now your Reuters news says a "jobless rate has hit a 14-year high 3.9 percent" and speaking about the local economy "its first reverse in 13 years". Do you recall the last downturn in Hong Kong this way also ?
