If bus speed becomes less important, then what is driving the push away from socket 7? AMD, Cyrix and IDT appear to be firmly entrenched in Socket 7 until well into next year. After that the picture becomes even fuzzier. AMD wants to go to an Alpha bus. IDT and Cyrix are headed towards a PCI bus interface. I'll believe in the demise of socket 7 when I see it. Scumbria
