Debra, one idea ... short a round lot and then buy to cover the odd lot portion you don't want. I think it's easier to buy an odd lot then short sale one.

This doesn't help me because my broker won't let me do this either.

Datek's execution is going to hell - see my posts on the Datek thread. I have never had a problem shorting odd lots, but as of late I have had a hell of a time buying or selling at the market. On average a market order now takes between 4 & 7 minutes. "We're adding more servers" is the BEST excuse I've gotten.
