I have been watching the technology for sometime. I was originally alerted to CDRD from the Loral connection. I believe in the system for the following reasons:

1. CD quality sound with out the hassle of the CDs. Changing them while the vehicle is in motion is not without hazards. CDs and the units they play in have not come down in price. Typically I dont have the same musical interests at the end of my trip as I did when I started out and selected the CDs to take along. I can sample more types of music for no increase in cost.

2. No commercials.

3. No fade out due to out range.

I do have some concerns with interference but I am not a city driver so I dont think these will impact me.

I have also been acquainted with Candlestick from the Loral/Globalstar threads. My opinion is that he is a short and tends to take items out of context to serve is purposes. Not that is a bad thing necessarily, he just does not feel the need to make those intentions known.

I dont think CD radio will remain commercial free in its current incarnation. I think it would be a great addition as an added feature to an existing service. It would be an interesting addition to DTH video or as a add on to a satellite tracking/security vehicle service.
