Rick, I solve the problem by not listening to local newscasters. <eom>

Rick,

"nuk'yular" testing

Me too. Fingernail on the blackboard effect on me. President Carter was always talking about nuk'yular things, and I was told he had a degree in nuk'yular physics.

While I'm complaining or whining, here are two recent examples which also unnerved me:

1. From SI: "For all intensive purposes, the marked was closed."

2. From my newspaper: "Despite the blow to to the head, the victim remained conscience for two hours."

3. From almost everybody under 45: "If I would have known you were coming, I would have made some plans." I won't get into the complex grammar of this particular horror just now. Maybe later.

Best,

Jack
