penni - I had to buy a whole house for my books! Bibliomania really IS a serious disease, although, like yourself, I don't particularly care to be cured of it. (In fact, I have even infected my children.)

Ah -- Mother Tongue! That's the one I was trying to think of. Must look into/acquire it, along with all those standards that I must confess to not owning.

Le Mot Juste- (common foreign phrases)

It's overall a great book, but absolutely riddled with mistakes (cribl‚ de fautes) in the French section, especially pronunciation, but also in translation, spelling, etc. So I wonder about the other language sections. It's a good start for those interested, but I wouldn't trust it (to publish something, for example) without verifying its material.
