Hey Biotech Jim ( no relation to "earthworm jim" I hope!),

Funny you should mention BPV E5 since the lab I'm in identified and characterized the E5:PDGFR transformation pathway. Though I don't work with E5, I think the elucidation of this biochemical pathway was a beautiful piece of work. I am a bit curious as to why you're interested in it since BPV doesn't infect people and I am unaware of any human paradigms for an endogeneous, E5-like protein. (Lot's of poor postdocs have lost lots of sleep trying the get the HPV E5 protein to actually DO anything so HPVE5 doesn't seem a likely candidate for human disease). Sugen has a PDGF receptor inhibitor that kills kinase activity (SU101 I believe), that is in clinical testing for a variety of cancers (not an endorsement, just information).
