Bob,

I hope the Merced delay gives the Alpha a chance to get a foothold. This would also help the K7 with its use of the Alpha bus.

Pravin.

Merced was originally planned to released during 2001~2. In order to hype their stock price, Intel moved up the debut schedule to 2H/90 and pull their OEM partners to co-announce the supports for Merced, a chip only stays on HP stables.

However, HP Mercede teams finally convinced Intel that they would be able to meet the changed schedule. Intel has to eat their words and makes these big OEM like a group of jerks.

Could it be because my disclosure of 1,500 million transistors on M2 has send the 1,000 million transistors Merced back to drawing boards? Anyway, our M3 is on the way to take over the whole server market to itself during 1999 and 2003.
