Just like with IBM 20 years ago, no one figured they could beat em. But innovation (hello, Mr. Gates) DID...

Nice try but not even close to reality.

First, it was antitrust scrutiny of IBM that made them look to an outside source for the operating system. Without that scrutiny, msft would not exist.

Second, Gates innovate? Please. Gates bought DOS for $50K. Even then he couldn't innovate. He had to buy technology just like today.

I give credit to Gates for recognizing an opportunity and exploiting the hell out of it like no other. But the credit you give him is astoundingly misplaced.

It is suicide because Microsoft dominates the OS market. They are now trying to dominate everything else.
