Stitch;

Could this be the beginning of share-holders rights issues percolating to the surface???? Lets hope so. It will help a great deal in forcing these conglomerates to open their windows a little.

Thanks for the article.

Check out an article called "The World's Biggest Going Out of Sale Ever" in the May 31 issue of the New York Times Magazine. Can't get this on the Times web site to post. TRied for an hour today for you all. The article written by Michael Lewis, (Liars Poker,etc.) is on the Matthews Fund's search for value and justice in Asia. Lew is follows Matthews around Asia. It is an absolute eye popping text. The kind of information we have been searching her for six months in digging our way through the ruins.

Many, many of these ASian companies who have ADR's are going to be sued in the US in "class action" suits.

The question I have about the impenetrable financial sturctures of Korean chaebopls and companies and banks is that "Isn't Korea just a scaled down vedrsion of Japan? With Japan's collusive interlocking spheres of influence between banks, suppliers, interlocking companies"
For all the hundreds of billion of money in income there was no profit for these companies. They bought market share at the expense of profits.

Korean chaebols at 5x to 10 x debt to equity. The living dead.

Between times Matthews sees Korea and Thailand as the best bets for investment: 1-3 years. Very, very negative on Indonesia and Malaysia. Matthews suspects thre is a warrant out for his arrest in Malaysia after he said negative things Muhammed Mahathir.
