Well, Charlie is something of an oddball cat, so I wouldn't use his preference to pee in the wood litter and poop in the clay stuff as the model for what all cats will do.

But he's the most particular about what he pees in, preferring potted plants to clay litter too. He's also the first to complain about a dirty box by peeing outside the box. So if wood makes him happy, I'll continue to buy it, even if a couple of the others aren't using it at all.

It's all a matter of what's easy for you, as well as what the cats will accept, some are more adaptable than others.
