steve.

it isnot clear
exactly who they will supply
notwithstanding the big
players in their court.

on the contrary, you have missed
nothing...revenues may very well
be waiting in the wings, but they
appear to be anemic from the
licensing angle, as you note.

the persistent, and disappointing,
sense i have is that somehow they
have fallen from grace...

of course,
this is based on nothing more than
the cumulative effect of a heralded
arrival, replete with fanfare...
followed by well, nothing more than
vague promise in the face of
their competitors' seeming gains.

but, how much more is there,
and is any of it more positive?
i am not so sure anymore & i agree with
your assessment of their target appeal.
it was a tale told by, perhaps not idiots,
but certainly full of sound & fury...
my question:

will it signify nothing?

and in such an explosive growth area...

There are three significant DSP vendors. Two of these are AWRE
licensees (ADI, LU). If better products are made, TXN, LU, and/or
ADI will make them. LU is betting the farm on telecom. The main
competition going forward is TXN with Amati DMT code.

The end-user device vendors will ramp up to MANY for awhile and
then settle out to a FEW ... those FEW will be using chips from
TXN, ADI, or LU ... maybe some market share to someone else, but
not if LU has anything to say about it.

I have been in negotiations with one of these firms to JV a product
at the pre-NDA stage. These guys are WAY serious about market
share of their chipsets. AWRE has become irrelevant to the result,
they can only stand outside the ring and cheer for their favorite.

Two out of three ain't bad.

The only gotcha is that WE don't know how the money flows ...

AWRE may be a buy-out candidate still, but the focus now is really
on HOW SPECIFICALLY do they recognize revenue from these licenses?

AWRE may be worth a buy-out from LU specifically if LU perceives
their value as an engineering house is worth the nickel to LU post
LU's "pooling of interest" threshold in Oct.

The other major question is what is AWRE doing to expand their IP
base going forward. Nothing has been said about this.

Three questions. No answers from the company. Whine, whine.
