Hey CYTO, because of the short sale, you need to correct the profit/loss number on the day. We actually are up $821.25, not down $4929. This error results because in Yahoo portfolios, they calculate the $4 13/16 gain from $16 1/4 for the day times -1000 shares to show a loss on ICOS of $4812.50, but we actually paid $22 per share, so we are actually up $15/16 x 1000 = $937.50. If you simply take todays equity position of $111,642 minus yesterdays position of $110,821 you get the same $821 gain. You get this kind of error any time you do a mid day trade. No big deal, but thought I'd mention it to you, since a $4929 loss looks so ugly compared to an $821 gain. Rman

CytoAccountantMan1: I don't understand how you come up with negative buying power on this posting when we have $111K equity and $95K debt. We should have $16K buying power. Even with the short sale, the value of that is secured by the restricted cash of $22K, which more than covers the amount needed to cover the short. If the short was out of the money, then the available buying power should get converted to reduced to leave reserves to cover the short....at least in my mind. OK, time for one of you brokers out there to quit lurking and earn your keep and let us know what we really should be doing????? Rman
