JTC: This market started cracking the day you started calling it the Beanie Baby market! We should spread the word around! INTC: my last post to the INTC thread in March (?) was related to INTC problems. Took quite a bit of bashing from people in general and Mr. Paul Engel himself the owner of the thread. I guess they are paying a high price for stealing DEC's alpha chip.

I am waiting patiently for the ridiculously priced internet stocks, BFT, ZONA, CDRD to start nose diving.

So do stocks go up when rates go down? Not when earnings expectations are going down the tubes.

I got 20 INQSL (July 60 puts) for 3/8 yesterday as a hedge to long
position in INVX at 18.
I don't mind to make money in both ways :)

...may have to cash in their "Happy Meal Beanie Babies" to pay off their cash advances.

Speaking of cash advances, Joey, did you hear that mutual funds may soon be able to accept MasterCard and Visa as payment for fund shares? That's right, you no longer need to go to the bank to get a cash advance before putting money in the market. You can do it directly. Wonder if you can get airline miles on credit card fund purchases.

So far, the SEC has only approved this for one firm that wants to sell shares in a VC mutual fund over the internet, but other fund companies are expected to request approval too.

Regards,
Bob

JTC/ Others:

Re: INTL Delays Merced Chip

I find this quiet interesting.

1. INTC in the legal case with DEC settled out of court but the impression was that DEC had a fairly solid case.

2. Part of the settlement was that INTC would manufacture the 64 bit Alpha for DEC that DEC has been manufacturing for quite some time.

3. CPQ buys DEC (Stockholders vote on June 11 and I feel confident that it will be approved)

4. The interesting thing now will be that INTC will be manufacturing the chip that allows CPQ to take advantage of the high end enterprise market. This in a minor or maybe a major way will hurt INTC and also hurt HWP. DEC and MSFT have been working together for some time to insure the Alpha chip runs Windows NT 5 very well.

Very interesting complexities.

IMO, INTC and HWP will be hurt, CPQ and I think SUN (with the delay of the Merced chip) will be helped.

Comments anyone on how this might be played out.

Bob T.

Joey,

They should sell their stocks and buy Beanie Babies instead according to this story!

flashnews.com

My wife has been buying them since day one almost and she has even decided to sell what she has collected! Not sure where she will sell them, but I'm just happy to see that I'm married to a very smart investor herself!
