Hi Bob, jeffrey, seems like the same people that used to haunt this thread are still around. Bob is the bull, jeffrey is the pessimist. Last time I was here the stock was about 50 and there were lots of new faces talking about the stock going to 80, but now we're back where we started.

For a taste of the past:

Message 520423

Good luck, and thanks for the good posts,

Carl

Jeffrey,

Perhaps the only difference is our time frame. Anytime I can feel pretty confident of a double in 18 months, I'm ready to buy, without trying to time it too finely. I think mid-30's is a great price for a company whose growth rate is at least 25%, whose earnings during an industry downturn will be at least $2.00, and whose potential when the upgrade cycle begins is $3.00 - 4.00. You could dispute the numbers, or agree with the numbers, and just figure you can get in at a same or better price at a later date. I gather it might be a little of both??

I think management's guidance is absolutely the worst case scenario they can present and still be believed - and with shareholder suits around every corner, can you blame them? And this may be the biggest difference in our guesses - I gather you are taking them at their word, and things might even get worse; I'm thinking odds are pretty good things will turn out better than they say, and almost no chance they will turn out worse. Time will tell; it'll be interesting for someone to quote us again in another 18 months!

Bob

OK, Jeffrey, just read the Intel/Merced news - maybe I will wait a spell, 'cause the market may become even a little more generous!

But I have to say, I've never had to wait more than 6 months to make a good profit on ETEC when buying in times like this, and selling when it outran itself. I gotta think it'll work that way this time, too - even if it takes 5 months to get started!
