If finding a piece of a satellite a couple of miles away from the impact sight isn't obliterated, than I don't know what is. If I didn't adhere to the strict Webster's interpretation of "obliterated" then, to quote the great philosopher Steve Martin:

EXCUSE ME!

And, I feel I have every right to criticize the media based on my own personal experiences. Perhaps Tim A is correct when saying their motives are pure. I would like to think that they are. But that doesn't change my opinion that I believe that they are often wrong.

Dave,
You appear to be correct. Obliterate according to webster: "To do away with completely so as to leave no trace." From now on no one should use the word obliterate since there is always some trace remaining. An atom bomb did not obliterate Hiroshima and a truck bomb did not obliterate the Oklahoma City Federal building since there were traces remaining following both of these events.

Thanks for pointing this out to us Dave. From now on we will all know that when we hear the word obliterate, the author is most likely incorrect.

Thanks again,
Don

This is brilliant reasoning big Dave. Let's see a guy with a BSEE who spends most of his time posting on the 'DID SLICK WILLIE BOINK MONIKA' thread has trouble distinguishing between a hotel at some distance from the launch/crash site NOT being obliterated whereas Mr. A dares to suggest that at the launch/crash site itself things were pretty much toast. See Dave, it's about DISTANCE and that old rule of thumb: all things being equal, the further you are away when the shit hits the fan, the mo bettah.
