<<I believe that the pill is going to win this game>>

Jack, this has never been a question of whether or not oral pills will have more sales in the ED market. I accept the fact that oral pills will be the least invassive and therefore the first treatment for ED. The simple question is whether Vivus will be a profitable company. We all know that oral pills will not be a cure for all. All Vivus has to do is sell enough product to be profitable. The Viagra cloud still has not settled. When it does we will see that MUSE will still have a big enough share of the ED market to make Vivus an important player in the ED market. I am tired of all the free press Viagra and now ICOS has received.

As far as the short interest goes, such a level of short interest would make you think that Vivus was ready for bankruptcy. We all know that this is not the case. The shorts have repeatedly raped this stock. Payback time will come. Just give it some time.

<<Even Dr Ed fells the pill works>>

Come on Jack. Nobody here is saying that the pill doesn't work. It's simply a matter of percentages. The pill works well on ___% of men with moderate to severe organic ED. ___% of men with moderate to severe organic ED can not take the pill because they have cardiac problems and may be using nitrates or because the side effects are too bothersome. ___% of men with ED do not like the pill because of the time factor involved between administration and effect. OK Jack, you help us fill in the blanks and then we will all know what chunk of the pie remains for Vivus to work on.

PS Jack the amount of pie left doesn't have to be greater than 50% for Vivus to prosper.

Jack,

The analysts claim that the ED market will be a 3 billion dollar industry. Vivus made about 120 million dollars last year with a little over a dollar a share annual earnings. 120,000,000 divided by 3,000,000,000 equals 4% market penetration in 1997. OK Jack, now take the part of the pie left for Vivus to work on (as you calculated in my previous post) and divide by 3 billion and we will all have an idea if Vivus still has potential earnings growth.
