Max,

The ICG thread is hardly ever used. I have it bookmarked just in case and this was the first thing I've found that's useful. You might want to try Yahoo for whatever good that might do...it's like going to Albania to find a good doctor.

Let's see how successful ICG is in getting the RBOCs to support their rollout. Remember that you need to use space in the RBOC central office to make this work. If it were such a good thing the RBOCs would either be doing it themselves or trying to kill efforts by others. Or both. Maybe they want other companies to deal with the problems of doing lots of upfront spending while the standards are still being set and the market dynamics are not well known...and let the resulting customer disappointment be a black mark for CLECs? Who knows...it might all be hot air and ICG might be just trying to support their local rollouts with ADSL hype - hard to say. They probably didn't sign up to any numbers if they have a contract with Lucent and the others.

If you really want to learn a lot about these telecom technologies from a fairly simple perspective (sort of technical but with a strong marketing touch) I recommend teledotcom.com. They post their backissues. A subscription is free and the current issue is mailed each month to people who say they're in the business. Just tell them you make decisions for spending money at a telecom company, give them your home address, and you're set.
