FT, With regard to your analogy of the Beta vs VHS formats and Windows vs everything else, when I purchased my first video recorder, VHS was already established as the industry standard. I don't think I've ever seen Beta, nor do I know the history behind inferior VHS winning out over superior Beta, so I cannot comment. The analogy I could make is that people who have recently arrived to the wonderful world of computing will assume Microsoft Windows running Microsoft products is the only way to fly, but only because it is the only choice which was presented to them, usually.
