What the hell is a 'hold', either if it is good, it is a 'buy',
if it is no good, it is a 'sell', 'hold' means we have no
frigging idea whether it is going to go up or go down ...

Jach,

Will try to find my archived article from either WSJ or
Smart Money featuring what's going on with analysts and
post it. Gist of article is that analysts now are regarded
as rainmakers for their firms, and their ability to bring
in investment banking deals for Wall St firms on the
corporations they cover determines pay. Hence in order
not to jeopardize future investment banking deals, analysts
rarely issue sell recommendations and instead couch them as
"holds". Above phenomenon also invariably leads to analyst
reports that always look at world as if through rose covered
glasses. Again, one must have historical experience with
both UBS and particular analyst to judge the call he's making
