Pravin,

Re: "AMD stuff: techweb.com "

Thought I would pick out a few interesting "bits" and "pieces" ...

"The K6-2, formerly known as the K6-3D, is positioned to go head-to-head against
Intel's Pentium II processor, while the current K6 generation will be positioned
directly against Intel's Celeron family for low-cost PCs.

"Even though the K6-2 is a better product, we are still going to offer a 25 percent
discount to the Pentium II at the same clock rate," Krelle said."

Boy, it sounds like AMD has a lot of confidence in their statement that the
K6-2 is a better product ... that's why they will offer the 25% discount. <ggg>
What a joke.

"Initially, the K6-2 will be available as three products-a 266MHz, a 300MHz and a
333MHz processor. Pricing for the chips in OEM quantities is $185, $281 and
$369, respectively."

Well Pravin, where are all the 350mhz K6-2's that AMD'ites (Brian, Petz,
yourself, Maxwell ...) were HYPE'ing on this thread ... Looks like I was
very right to be skeptical. <ggg>

"Pravin,

Re: "Also, why would you expect the voltages to be any different than with the K6?"

The reason I expected different voltages is because original info from
AMD indicated that the K6-3D would be offered at 350mhz. I believe this
will require AMD to either "jack up" the supply voltage with their current
FET or AMD will re-design their .35um FET so that a lower voltage is used.
I posted my concerns to Paul earlier this month:

"I also find it interesting that AMD has not been HYPE'ing the K6-ME-2 ... I
wonder if the 350mhz speed bin is proving to be difficult for them.
Wouldn't be interesting if AMD was only able to come out with 300mhz
and maybe 333mhz CPU's. We will all know soon."

Make It So,
