EDMONTON, June 2 /CNW/ - Ceapro Inc. (''Ceapro'') (ASE: CZO) is pleased
to announce today that shipping has now commenced under its contract with
Daisen Sangyo Co. Ltd. of Japan for distribution and sale of Ceapro's Dr.
Redmond's Animal Coat Wash product through Nippon Zenyaku Kogyo Co. Ltd.,
Japan's largest veterinarian animal health company.
Nippon Zenyaku completed extensive product trials amongst some 60
veterinarians in Japan during 1997, the results of which coincided with the
results of Ceapro trials in Canada. The product will be launched throughout
Japan in early July supported by a major marketing program. Japan is the
largest and most developed small animal market in Asia with a population of 18
million dogs and cats and Nippon Zenyaku is the dominant supplier to this
market. ''As a joint-venture partner of the world's largest animal health
company, Merial, Nippon Zenyaku represents a very strategic partner for Ceapro
in opening this major market to our products, of which the coat wash is only
the first,'' comments Douglas Clement, Ceapro's Vice President, Consumer
Health Products. ''With a sales force of 300 calling directly on Japan's 6500
veterinarians, Nippon Zenyaku ensures that our products get into the
mainstream animal care markets quickly and efficiently'', added Clement.
Ceapro is very pleased with this partnership and sees it as an important
stepping stone to opening other markets in Europe and North America later this
year and in 1999.
''The initial shipment has a sales value of $375,000 CDN. Future product
and sales forecasts will be provided shortly after this initial launch for
this multi-million dollar potential market for Ceapro'', stated Clement.
Ceapro obtains the active ingredients in its animal care product line
from its wholly-owned subsidiary Canamino Inc., an advanced oat fractionation
plant in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The ASE has neither approved nor disapproved of this release.
