Rudedog you know your stuff. So I'll ask you a few more despite the fact that you are a mainframe guy.

1) Why would SAP listen to Compaq? Applications need CPU power, how could Compaq deliver that in 93-94? Who on their right mind would embark on such an expensive port based on CPQ's word without commitment from a hot shot micro processor company? Think about it.

2) I know they bought Tandem. I still think that didn't work out all that well. What's your view? Keeping employees is nice, but it's overhead, what's the upside? Yes, I do know the Tandem architecture, my first job was with First Chicago working on Tandems.

3) Exclusive lock with MSFT??? Good luck. Why would Billy do that?

Read the article again and give the guy a break. He does mention RSX11

Don't get me wrong, I'm not forever down on CPQ but they have A LOT to prove. Based on hints from their suppliers their inventory problems are a lot worse than we imagined. If they can make the DEC merger work, they will be a power to contend with in 18-24 months. For that reason I would start buying in the low 20s knowing full well that I might have to average down. True support is around 15, but they would need to have some REAL MAJOR problems for it to get there.

Hi rudedog,

Thanks for all your knowledgeable posts. Reading your posts all the time, makes me feel good about all my positions in CPQ. I really do not understand if these people debating you believe cpq is going to fall on its face or if they are trying to be the devil's advocate. I hope the latter for their sake, 'cause I feel sorry for any one shorting this stock at this price at this time. Good job!!! Peace and good luck!
