The options were BOUGHT by a Soceite General customer, which is why those particular options had a high implied volatility compared to the rest of the options. Open interest figures should not be taken as black and white as that..Just because there is a high call open interest does not necessarly have bearish implications. The customer did not start buying the options til the stock hit 19.125-.19.75 range. Same situation with NEM.
The real implication of this situation is that the stock's actual volatilty will go up in the near future. This would mean that the stock would have to make a relativly larger move than usual in the next couple of weeks.
