Yousef <who would want an AMD Alpha chip that runs at 266mhz>

You cretin, I was trying to set a sort of peace
here by posting a raw argument without caustic
remarks, but you seem to be too dumb for that.
My original message supposed to include more.
You still
seem to not able to comprehend the relationship
and tradeoffs between design complexity and
transistor technology available at the moment
of making design decision.

Your " analysis" of silicon technology is
apparently no better than your
assessment of sources for Alpha fabrication
as you just have demonstrated in your previous
post: you forgot the major source - Samsung!!!

What did you forget in your "consultations"
about masks and silicon dopings?

What a shame for a Ph.D.!

Have a nice weekend.

Yousef,

If AMD were to produce the Alpha, it will be smaller and run a lot faster than those that are made by DEC and Samsung. AMD's process technologies is ahead of DEC and Samsung.

Intel has to push back the Merced because the company has been relying on standard process technologies. Without Local Interconnect module, the die size is huge and speed is slow. AMD paid the due and is ahead of Intel in this key module.

K7 samples will be out by this fall and will ship one year ahead of Intel.
