Welcome aboard!

Very touching story and can well understand why you would have a burning desire to tell it. With you in the Rocket, I think we now have all the services covered.

Can't go without commenting on the name... "Sloth" for a USMC Officer (and airdale to boot)? I can't imagine it! Of course, that's coming from an ex-submarine sailor. :-)

Now, I suppose the name probably refers back to the bear with the wicked looking claws, eh?

Again, it was a touching story.

Lazarus

Sloth,

Beautiful post!

Offended because it's not Memorial Day? NO WAY.

I believe people should share these stories daily. They are so much more uplifting than what we hear everyday from the media.

Why do we have to wait for a holiday? Please everyone continue to share the stories. They will remind us of what it's like to be an American and the sacrifices that have been made to keep us free. It is nice to hear about civilian support and respect of what our guys have done.

God Bless America and God bless our military.

S

Hi Sloth,
Welcome to the ship. Posts like that are welcome anytime. I think we all need to be reminded from time to time of what the real cost is to keep this country free and alive. It takes more than just dollars.

Chuck (proud to call you crewmate)

P.S. E'Lane, see if you can some sloth shaped bunny slippers for our new crewman. But he'll have to tell Rick D. what his grocery requirements are...<VBG>

In my view patriotism should not be limited to one day a year.I was pretty unhappy recently when the local school district made the kids go to school on Memorial Day.My daughter kid did not know what it was.
Of course ,they did close for MLK day ,which in my opinion is solely an ethnic/political celebration, and spent a day in history class on him.But no time for Memorial Day.
Oh well,I also voted for Barry Goldwater and know in my heart that he was right. So be it,we are all entitled to our opinion.
Yours on the thread-Samuel J.Lee,II,LtCdr,(USNR/JAGC,Ret.Reserve)

RE #9853-1st Amendment rights
We wouldn't have them if it were not for folks like you and Jim.And I think you will find most on this thread to be reasonably civil.Speak up as you see fit.

Sloth,

Well, talk about "riding on coattails"! Seems I get lucky reponse #13! Not much left to say except to tell you that you and all you do are indeed appreciated . Since you were lurking last weekend, you know how this thread feels about our military men. Don't ever apologize for sharing. That is one of the beauties of this thread and these people.

Ok, now, down to business. I got it approved with Mr. macker, sir and he says you are commissioned to the stewardess lounge! That's right, you are to protect the lovely ladies aboard this rocket! I know it is a dirty job, but somebodies got to do it! I am leaning towards swim trunks w/o bunny slippers. If you prefer speedos and bunny slippers though, have at it!

E'Lane....wondering just who is actually going to need protecting!

Come on gals...we have us a bouncer now...
