I am a lurker and stumbled onto this board. In 1995, there was a big lawsuit between Motorola and Interdigital Communications (IDC) concerning infringement rights for technology that Motorola used in their phones. Motorola won that suit, but since the trial, some of the decisions were overturned. It was believed that, due to the technical aspects of the trial, as in, TDMA technology CDMA technology, B-CDMA technology (which I don't think was involved), that the understanding of the infringements was "over the head" of the jurors. These infringement cases were already won in Germany where other companies were concerned. In April, Alcatel dropped its appeal with IDC even though they did not feel the technology was used in their phones. The IDC board, especially on Yahoo, will give you a wealth of information about these technologies, especially posts made by Jim Lurgio. Here is a link you might want to look at:
