rudedog - Thanks for your response.

On the second question of compatibility, I noticed from business surveys that a very large majority of MSFT users intend to stay with Win9X and not move to NT. The reason given is cost and functionality.

I can understand this because Win9x has items like exchange (which allows fax send/receive) that have to be purchased separately in NT. Also Win9x supports old ISA cards that NT does not (I have a ISA scanner on a Win9x machine that, last I heard from MSFT tech people, will not be recognized by NT). Anyhow, the bottom line is that MSFT did a great job with Win9x, installed a huge base, and it is ideal for a small office.

So the question is: does Alpha support Win9x as thoroughly as it does NT? If not, does this create a problem in the adoption of Alpha by businesses. Most purchasing managers need to be able to install either NT or Win9x on a given piece of hardware.
