I didn't know AltaVista offered internet service.

I vote for keeping Alta Vista. If CPQ jettisons AV via IPO, Compaq will gain a one-time capital boost. If they keep AV, it could add to their bottom line every quarter. The internet is still in its infancy and there's plenty of time for Compaq to develop AV into a great portal.

Also let ALTA VISTA be the first issue brought up on the scren with CPQ being a big advertiser for selling their product in concert with a great search engine? I bet this happens by the end of the year.

Regards,
Caisson

Bill,
Ilike the way you think. Why not turn Alta Vista into an ISP company fully owned by CPQ. Steady earnings, free service coupons with new computer, advertising on internet, and so fourth.
