Earth Search Sciences Carries Out Remote Sensing Program For Noranda Over Australia

Wednesday, April 22, 1998 09:09 AM
McCALL, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 22, 1998-- Earth Search Sciences, Inc. (EDIS: OTC), of McCall, Idaho, today announced that its Probe-1 remote sensing instrument has completed flights over regions of Australia to determine the extent of certain mineral indicators for Noranda, Inc.

"We have completed the first two of our revenue-producing flights for Noranda and we look forward to accomplishing more work for our client," said Dr. John Peel, chief executive officer of Earth Search Sciences. "There is more work to do on the continent of Australia, and we are eager to complete the assignment and move on to other areas of the world that are of interest to Noranda."

Earth Search Sciences also completed a technical validation flight for two organizations -- AIG Corporation and CSIRO, the Australian space agency -- under assignment from NASA to deliver remote sensing data.

Peel said Probe-1's return to Australia for Noranda will occur within the next few months. Noranda has also informed ESSI that it will assign the company a program of remote sensing over regions of Mexico just as soon as all necessary permits and licenses are in place.

Earth Search Sciences' Probe-1 was brought to market in 1997, and in the second half of last year conducted successful missions with U.S. government agencies over Kazakhstan and for private clients over targets in the United States.

Remote sensing, or "hyperspectral imaging," creates ultra high-resolution images of the earth's surface. Analysis of these images can determine the presence of target minerals in geologic formations or evidence of minerals from vegetal "signatures."

Earth Search officials believe Probe-1's low-cost capabilities extend across the mineral, environmental, defense, agriculture and many other industries.
