FT,

I'm familiar with the windshield wiper story you tell, and others. I guess I should have made it clear that I do not think that much of what the automakers have done was ethical either. They and BG are all a bunch of evil robber barons who give capitalism a bad name.

I think most government agencies are self-perpetuating, expensive behmoths that do little to curtail these practices which may or may not be illegal but are clearly unethical. I hope I haven't given the impression that I am pleased that the DOJ has chosen to involve itself in the Microsoft feud, for I am not. Remembering the years spent and the outcome the last time the DOJ had Gates in its clutches I too must question its current motivation.

You might check out the Evil Empire thread here at SI. The techies over there are much better than I at vilifying Gates and his business practices. There are also a few Gates cheerleaders. All in all, it's an enlightening thread, as are the two threads which discuss Microsoft vs the DOJ. Run a search with MFST, and they'll all pop up in the window.
