Yep ... going to be lots of challenges coming Arcon's (MIDL) way.

The exec's have been around the track quite a few times from the
look of their resumes. That's a good sign.

The oil companies are going be schizophrenic on the ethanol issue.

On one hand, ethanol blending (DF-144) offers them an out from
the huge MTBE downside ... MTBE groundwater pollution is hot news.
Ethanol-blended fuels, as are currently in use in several states,
in E10 or E15 forms (10-15% ethanol) are more eco-friendly.

On the other hand, going the full route to E85 fuels (85% ethanol)
would start to have a big impact on crude demand.

The oil companies (in the guise of the American Petroleum Institute)
have been fighting ethanol every step of the way.

So, here we see Exxon writing checks to evaluate ethanol with one hand,
and writing checks to defeat ethanol tax credits with the other.

And here we are in the MIDL!

This is known as the position of maximum learning potential.
