Service launched in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Bright star on otherwise down day on NASDAQ?

MCLEAN, Va., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Nextel International, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Nextel Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXTL), will launch commercial service utilizing Motorola's iDEN(R) technology in Buenos Aires, Argentina under the name Nextel Argentina S.R.L. today. Nextel Argentina's system will provide all-digital wireless
communications coverage in the greater Buenos Aires metropolitan area, where approximately 20 million people live or work.

"Nextel International now provides service to two major South American markets -Buenos Aires, Argentina and Sao Paulo, Brazil."

Nextel offers an innovative, wireless digital communications system for mobile workgroups, utilizing Motorola's iDEN technology, that integrates digital cellular, a digital two-way radio and text/numeric paging into a single phone.
