>>COMS has been trying to reduce channel inventories so this study may not be indicative of their market share. Just a hopeful thought.<<

Good point! From the logic that Dell'Oro's numbers are acquired,
then reducing channel inventories would show significant
lowering in sales and market share. But reducing
channel inventories is an excellent way to put long-term
value into the company. It gives the company better
control of inventories, better relationships with sales,
lowers expenses, and eventually the ANALysts love it.
We just have to be patient.

I think nobody knows jack do-do about the final numbers,
including the ANALysts. For one thing, they're too
entrenched in their own interests. Better to just
do as much homework on your own, keep questioning
everything and learning all the time.

In the long run this will give us a better feel for
the facts than what the ANALyst have (unless they
have specific insider numbers).

To COMS & the Ghost of USRX w/ other STUFF:

I expect a thank you for answering one of your threads
questions :o). Or you can just tell me I'm full of
sh*t - I'll take it in a warm-hearted way <gg>

That is a good observation, John. Four quarters ago Dell 'Oro's report showed 3Com gaining large market share; we know know that a lot of those sales were building channel inventory, and not sell-through. There is every reason to believe that the opposite is true - 3Com has focused on reducing channel inventory be slowing or stopping initial sales into the channel. The new channel model will give a much more balanced view of sell-through in the future.
