thanks for responding, J Krnjeu. The current complainers would rather everyone forgot that MSFT wasn't always a big company selling a winning product. In fact, even Win 3.0 pretty much sucked. I didn't even start using Windows until Win 3.1. So yes, there was LOTS of time for the competition to ramp up competing products.

This envy of Microsoft started in earnest when Win95 splashed onto the scene. That's gives you an idea of just how far behind MSFT competitors are. Like it or not, Win95/98 is here to stay, at least for the nest few years. The reason is not because MSFT is a bully, but rather that Win95/98 is simply the best product for the money, for the job that needs to be done.
