I'm not talking about a "more advanced" Celeron 400/100, I'm talking about taking the current, cacheless, Celeron 266/66 and running it at 350/100 or 400/100 on a BX motherboard with AGP. Because it is a .25 micron Deschutes chip, and because it has no cache, this can be done reliably, at least in most cases (the slowest Deschutes chip made is the 333MHz, 350 from 333 is no great leap). I think that a chip so run on such a board will well outperform a K6-300 socket 7, and you will have a BX motherboard ready to take full P2 chips later when their prices drop. A better value, more performance for about the same money. The Celeron 266/66 is currently around $150 but is reported to be going to drop to $105 on June 7. Which will make it more performance for less money. Too bad that Intel is going to ruin this game by adding cache to the Celeron when the replace the current chip with Medocino. It's the lack of cache -- which is what everyone is bitching about -- that allows the Celeron to run WAY above its rated speed.
