**OFF TOPIC** Slava, PA has nothing to do with the psychology of the individual investor. From what I have heard (which is precious little, I'll admit), PA deals (or tries to deal) with the psychology of the market, which may, or may not be, psychopathology at any given moment.

As for Dr. Elder's comparison of traders & investors to alcoholics -- well, pardon me for saying so, Slava, but that's tired old poppycock.

I dislike facile comparisons. Speaking for myself, I inherited some money from my mother. What was I supposed to do with it? Stick it in a savings bank? Put it into CDs? Stash it under the mattress? The sensible thing seemed to be to invest it in the stock market. Nothing alcoholic about it. By the way, I hate to gamble. Never do it.

I'm by no means unique in this respect. Sure, some people get obsessive-compulsive about trading. So what? That doesn't mean everyone does.

Forgive me for jumping down your throat, Slava. But cliches have the same effect on me that red flags are supposed to have on bulls.
